The Government of Cambodia has announced the launch of a new national airline called Cambodia Angkor Air. The airline is a joint venture between the government of Cambodia and Vietnam Airlines. The previous Cambodian national carrier was Royal Air Cambodge which ceased flying in 2001. Cambodia Angkor Air will begin scheduled flights on 29th July 2009 operating to Siem Reap and Ho Chi Minh City.
More than 20 foreign airlines, including Japan Airlines and Qatar Airways, currently operate direct flights to Cambodia.
