We woke up early this morning as we had to get up have breakfast then go back to our rooms and collect our suitcase before checking out and meeting down in reception just before 9:00 am.

Then off to the airport where we had to catch our flight from Noi Bai airport to Hue, After checking in and going through security I had a little of bit of time to do some shopping and have a look around, we then boarded our flight and about an hour later we touched down in Hue.

As we were waiting to disembark I could see it was very dark outside we had landed just as a storm had come in.. suddenly there was a massive down pour... but it was over in a matter of minutes (unlike the rain in England!).

Next stop was lunch at the Tropical garden, it was a really pretty restaurant and the food - paricularly the way it was presented - was lovely (like every meal so far !) The next hotel was called the Green Hotel and after a brief stop we were off to see the historic side of Hue with visits to the imperial citadel, the grand palace of the last dynasty of nguyen and goddess of the heavenly pagoda. Then back to the hotel to get changed and get ready for dinner at Royal Park restaurant.

On the way we stopped at the perfume river where we went on a dragon boat trip with some wonderful hue folksongs playing as we enjoyed the ride. The traditional music made the atmosphere special and they sang a song that would be traditionally sung at weddings, We were given lanterns to drop gently onto the perfume river and make a wish as we watched them race down the river..( a memory I 'll never forget, but I'm not revealing my wish!). We then headed to dinner at the royal park restaurant, again wonderful, tasty food, amazingly presented with a bird made out of carrot and when I asked how long it took to make he said about 10minutes I was amazed !

During dinner another storm arrived and from where we were sitting you see everything that was happening. It was very different to the storms I have seen at home, the lightening totally lit up the sky and the thunder rumbled so hard it made everything feel like it was rattling. I stood watching the flashes of light and beating rain with two of the staff, we chatted about what was happening and they asked about England - they were so friendly.genuine warmth amongst the spectacular weather outside After we had finished we went to leave and the staff got some umbrellas and helped us to use back to the minibus, we then headed back to the hotel. This was no brief down pour and the heavy rain continued, I was worried that the roads were starting to flood.

Tomorrow we will be driving down to Hoi An via the beach resort of Lang Co. I hope that it is going to safe to drive there, but before our next bust day of Vietnam adventures it is time for some sleep .....
